On the 11th of January 47 women from around the world started a climb that will change lives.
Thank God 43 of us made it to the summit which is a miracle and a record. Statistics show that 75% of climbers make it!
Our goal is it to raise awareness and finances to fight Human Trafficking.
Behind this phrase are more than 27 Million Women and children who are sold into the sex industry. Human Trafficking is the second most lucrative and the fastest growing business worldwide.
We wanted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro as a symbolic act. We wanted to climb for those who are oppressed and take the load for them because we know whom to give our suffering. We know that only with Jesus we can reach the summit, only with Jesus we can be saved from unrighteousness and be brought into a place of rest and freedom.
We want to speak about an issue that is not only happening in other countries, but right here where we live.
It’s a problem that destroys not only the lives of those who are enslaved. It destroys men, families and marriages.
Not only were we hands and feet for God on that mountain, God took each one of us on a special journey with Him.
I met Him especially on summit day. After a 7 hour hike on day 4 the guides woke us up at 11:00pm so that we could start summiting just after midnight. After 1 hour I had to slow down. I could hardly breath, I was so tired that I fell asleep while standing, I had no energy left and was shaking because of exhaustion and the freezing temperatures. It was dark and cold and I was alone with a guide knowing that the summit was far above, almost 1000m higher. How is it possible to take one more step. God gave me a verse before I had started the climb: ‘God, my God is with me every step I take’ and: ‘I will strengthen you. I will help you’ (Joshua 1:9 and Isaiah 41:10). I decided to trust God for every step and every step was a decision to trust him for the next. HE did it. I still don’t know how. I still can’t explain how HE did it but He was faithful. We made it to the top. What an experience.
God used this opportunity to strip each one of us from things that hinder us from getting closer to HIM. For me it was my strength.
In His grace He helped us to be better advocates for those who have no voice. It is an honor and a privilege to be His tool.
I have not reached my goal to raise $10,000 for the different projects that help save these women and children yet but I will not give up until God has answered that prayer.
I will keep fighting this battle until every daughter of the Most High King is in her father’s arms; saved and protected.
